All MCABSE Scholars Electric Application Submission Packets are due by March 22, 2024 by 6pm, sooner preferred! There should be only ONE nomination per high school.
Here is the Selection Criteria for the students you select:
- Students must be graduating Seniors from a Montgomery County Public High School.
- Students must be of African American origin or culture according to the census category. Please verify the student’s record.
- Students must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Students must submit a short essay/personal statement
- Students have demonstrated outstanding achievement in one or more of the following areas:
*Distinguished academic achievement as demonstrated by academic awards or other recognitions received.
*Distinguished community service. Candidate may consider any outstanding service provided to the school or broader community, including Student Service-Learning experiences.
*Distinguished student leadership. Candidate may consider contributions through student government, extracurricular activities, or informal leadership roles. - Students must provide at least ONE letter of recommendation.
- Students should be able to provide two electronic photos (one Elementary age, and one recent senior photo)
Nominations from schools should be selected and submitted through the High School Principal, High School Resource Counselor, and/or the High School College and Career Information Coordinator. Nominated students can get the application submission packet link through the above people in their schools.
Student Nominees will be notified by April 12, 2024 of their application submission acceptance. Please save the date, April 25, 2024, 7pm at The Carver Educational Services Center in Rockville for our annual awards ceremony.
